Understanding one’s identity is a vital part of a young person’s development, shaping their journey from early childhood into adulthood. At Godolphin, our commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion platform (EDI) is woven into every aspect of school life.

Through our EDI platform, alongside our Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural development (SMSC) initiatives, Personal, Social, Health, Citizenship and Economic Education (PSHCE) and EDI focused clubs, we provide our pupils with the tools to explore and embrace their unique identities. By fostering an environment where inclusivity is paramount, we promote a sense of belonging that allows every pupil to reach their full potential, free from prejudice or discrimination.

We believe that education extends beyond academic achievement. Our responsibility is to prepare our pupils for life in a diverse and interconnected society. Godolphin pupils are future leaders, citizens and advocates for a just world.

At the heart of our vision, ethos and values is a commitment to building an equitable society. By instilling an understanding of equality and inclusion from an early age, we help our pupils develop a deep sense of fairness and kindness – qualities that will guide them through their years at Godolphin and beyond.

Line 1

At Godolphin, we educate our pupils to respect diversity. They develop the knowledge and understanding needed to foster positive relationships, challenge prejudice and discrimination, and make informed decisions throughout their lives. In today’s complex and diverse society, we encourage open-mindedness and a positive outlook.

All pupils are valued equally, regardless of their religious beliefs, sexual orientation, race, gender, or gender identity. However, equality does not mean treating everyone the same. True equity ensures that individuals receive the support they need to access opportunities fairly and achieve their full potential.

We strive to eliminate barriers and disadvantages faced by some pupils due to ethnicity, gender, faith, disability, or sexual orientation. Each pupil is unique, and their differences should be recognised, respected, and celebrated by the entire school community, including staff, parents, governors, and visitors.

Mutual respect, kindness, and positive attitudes enrich our school community. We actively promote these values to strengthen relationships between individuals and groups with different backgrounds and experiences.

Every member of our school community should feel a sense of belonging, both within Godolphin and in the wider world. Respecting each individual fosters an environment where pupils feel valued and are more engaged in school life.

Godolphin provides multiple platforms for student representation, including our Prefect, Competitive House, and Boarding House committees. We also offer a range of extracurricular clubs, such as Exploring Christianity, Include Club, The Pupil Voice Society, and The Neurodiverse Club. Feeling represented and heard contributes to a stronger sense of belonging, improved academic performance, and better mental well-being.

We believe in the potential of every pupil. Our goal is to create an environment where all students are challenged, supported, and encouraged to achieve their best.

Prejudice-based bullying, including racism, homophobia, and discrimination against disabilities, is reported, addressed, and sanctioned. We actively challenge gender-based and other harmful stereotypes, equipping pupils with the confidence and tools to do the same. Tackling the ‘bystander effect’ is key—we educate pupils on their role in fostering a safe, supportive environment and empower them to take positive action when needed.
