Drama
Speech and Drama is a valuable life skill that helps to build confidence while fostering a love for performance. Our lessons provide an enjoyable and engaging way for pupils to explore all aspects of acting, supporting both curricular drama and school productions.
Available to all pupils from First Year through to Godolphin Sixth, Speech and Drama lessons can be taken individually or in pairs. Each lesson is tailored to the pupil’s needs and interests, covering areas such as Acting, Verse Speaking, Voice Production, Public Speaking, Mime, Improvisation, and Theatre History. With access to a wide range of resources, every session is unique and designed to develop both performance skills and self-expression.
Many pupils choose to take Speech and Drama examinations, with outstanding results - around a third of our candidates achieve Honours, and a significant number attain Distinctions. However, taking exams is entirely optional.
For those preparing for auditions, we offer specialist coaching for the National Youth Theatre, university drama courses, and drama school applications.
In the Junior years, lessons take place on a rotation basis to ensure minimal disruption to academic studies, with no subject missed more than once per term. Senior pupils have their lessons scheduled during lunchtimes and afternoon sessions to accommodate their academic commitments.
