Health & Wellness Centre
The Health & Wellness Centre at Godolphin is managed by Sister Dandy Brining, an experienced Nurse Practitioner Prescriber. Sister Dandy is supported by a dedicated team of Registered Nurses, all of whom are committed to providing compassionate and professional care to the school community.
The Health & Wellness Centre operates with an 'open door' policy, ensuring that pupils have easy access to healthcare whenever they need it. While students are encouraged to visit outside of lesson times when possible, they are welcome to seek care during the school day if necessary.
In addition to first aid, the Health & Wellness Centre offers a quiet room for pupils to rest if they are feeling unwell or need a break. For minor health issues, such as headaches or mild illnesses, the Health & Wellness Centre is equipped to administer over-the-counter medications to all pupils. Sister Dandy, as a Nurse Practitioner Prescriber, is authorised to prescribe medication to boarders who are registered with the School’s GP.

The Health & Wellness Centre also provides vital support to pupils with ongoing medical conditions, including asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, and anaphylaxis. The nurses are skilled at managing these conditions and ensuring pupils receive the appropriate care and attention. Furthermore, they offer a warm and reassuring approach, ensuring pupils feel supported and cared for in times of need.
When necessary, the Health & Wellness Centre team can make direct referrals to the school GP or counsellors, ensuring that pupils receive comprehensive and holistic care tailored to their individual needs.
Counselling
We have a counsellors who can meet with pupils in school on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons. All matters are classed as medical and treated in the strictest confidence unless the pupil gives permission for information to be shared with a defined group of staff. After an initial consultation, a series of follow-up sessions are arranged and funded privately by parents.
We are also in contact with other local counsellors and on occasions, may recommend one of them to a pupil's family. Every pupil has free telephone or email access to the school’s Independent Listeners who are not trained counsellors, but offer a listening ear in absolute confidentiality.
Counselling provides a regular time and space for pupils to talk about their troubles and explore difficult feelings in an environment that is dependable, free from intrusion and confidential. A counsellor should respect your viewpoint while helping you to deal with specific problems, cope with crises, improve relationships, or develop better ways of living. A counsellor recognises that we are all individuals who have a different set of experiences and situations to encounter throughout our lives. Our reactions to these experiences are also unique. Despite the name, counsellors don’t usually offer advice. Instead, they help you to gain insight into your feelings and behaviour and help you to make changes if you want to.
Having someone who is independent from what is happening in your life can give you the space to express exactly how you feel, without the fear of being judged.
