Ten Tors Triumph on Dartmoor
Last weekend (9–10 May), 14 of our pupils from Fourth and Lower Sixth rose to the challenge of the renowned Ten Tors event on Dartmoor, taking on the demanding 35 and 45 mile routes with determination, resilience and true team spirit.
The Ten Tors Challenge is one of the UK’s most celebrated outdoor endurance events, bringing together teams of young people to navigate across Dartmoor’s rugged terrain, visiting ten designated checkpoints within two days. Carrying all they need and facing ever-changing conditions, it is both a physical and mental test, making our pupils’ achievements all the more impressive.
In preparation, the students completed an intensive training programme, including five weekend sessions designed to build endurance, teamwork and navigation skills. This dedication was evident from the outset.

With favourable weather conditions, team leaders Sacha and Ava guided their groups confidently across the moor on Sunday, both teams crossing the finish line in strong shape, despite what their feet may have been telling them by the end. Their perseverance, teamwork and positive spirit were evident throughout.
We would also like to congratulate Cordelia and Eleanor, who successfully completed the challenge with a local Army Cadet Force team, adding to an already fantastic weekend of achievement.
Perhaps most remarkably, by Monday morning the girls were back in school, as cheerful and full of energy as ever, a true testament to their resilience and character.
The big question now is what comes next. After hearing the enthusiastic accounts from our Lower Sixth, the possibility of Godolphin fielding its very first 55 mile team next year is looking increasingly likely.
What an achievement from all involved. We are incredibly proud of every student who took part.
