We were delighted to welcome The James Dyson Foundation to Godolphin on Tuesday morning this week.  The Foundation exists to promote the work done by current Dyson engineers to the next generation, and so with this in mind the girls were set the task of designing a product to deal with an irritation or challenge they face at home (one group’s rather clever suggestion of “siblings”, although original, did not really allow sufficient scope for product development).  Examples of how James Dyson has achieved this were given and the girls set to work for around two hours.  Once the products were made from cardboard, tape and various Dyson parts, each group presented their product to their peers for a Q&A session.  The questioning was excellent and the girls dealt well with the challenge of thinking on their feet.  We are very hopeful that future Second Years will get the same opportunity.
