Godolphin's Annual Carol Service at Salisbury Cathedral
The Godolphin Carol Service in Salisbury Cathedral was a wonderful end to a very busy term. Four different choirs sang during the service, involving girls from Year 3 in the Prep right through to the Upper Sixth, a truly whole school celebration. Girls from each year group read the traditional Bible accounts of the prophecies of the Messiah and Jesus' birth. The Head Girl of the Prep opened the service with a Bidding Prayer: how brave to speak to a full Cathedral from way up in the pulpit! Meanwhile the Head Girl of the Senior School sang the solo for Once in Royal. There were many comments about the beauty of her singing and about the harp and violin accompaniments for other carols. Godolphin is the oldest surviving school with a connection to the Cathedral and we look forward to returning there not only for services and the Confirmation service next term but also as Godolphin prepares for its annual involvement in the Alabare sleepout in the Cloisters on February 1st.
