Godolphin welcomes internationally famous ceramic artist Sandy Brown
Internationally famous ceramic artist Sandy Brown visited Godolphin for the second time on Sunday 13 February. She first came in November where she met art students sitting GCSE and A-level examinations to talk about her work, her influences and ways of working. She set a project based on her own work entitled Natural Textures to our Fourth Year GCSE students. They have been working on their preparatory studies for the past 11 weeks.
Sandy returned on Sunday to run an all day workshop where she demonstrated five different techniques, spread throughout the day, that she uses in her work. Following each demonstration students developed their own studies using the technique that Sandy had shown them. Although she demonstrated ceramic techniques students developed solutions in textile design, three dimensional design as well as painting, drawing and printmaking.
We would like to thank Sandy for her enthusiasm, help and guidance. We would like to invite back into school next year to show her some of the final pieces that students will have produced following her visits.
