Sports Awards began with all the captains summing up the season in all their different sports which showed that Godolphin have had a very successful year with team and individual performances. Our speaker was Sir Ben Ainslie, he spoke about his incredible Olympic career beginning while he was taking his A levels where he picked up silver at just 19 and then he went to achieve an amazing four consecutive Olympic gold medals throughout his career. We also heard about his next ambition which is to bring the America’s cup back to Great Britain and he showed us a video of his incredible boat which literally flew across the sea! After the interval, prizes were awarded to every age group with a most improved and most valuable player for each sport. The International and National awards highlighted how many potential future Olympians Godolphin has and the most improved sports woman of the year went to Jess Rusby which commended her dedication to her sports. Sports Woman of the year was awarded to Izzy White and Anna Merritt and Sports Personality of the year was awarded to Pippa Henderson and myself, Jess Tregoning. It was a great evening to be able to recognise sporting achievements and to have an inspiring talk from the most successful olympic sailor of all time! I would like to say a huge thank you to all the PE staff for all their work throughout the year and for organising the evening.
