Godolphin play a key role in the inauguration of Bishop Stephen Lake

Image

Four students from Godolphin were asked to play a key role in the inauguration of Bishop Stephen Lake (pictured with the girls above) at Salisbury Cathedral today. Our students felt it was a tremendous honour to be part of such a momentous occasion.

The students (using sprigs of thyme) sprinkled the Bishop and the congregation with water from the font to remind them of their baptism.

During Bishop Lake's sermon, our students were asked to distribute gold envelopes to the 1000-strong congregation. Every attendee got an envelope with ÂŁ10 in it. The ÂŁ10,000, donation for the envelopes, was given by an anonymous donor. The congregation were asked to go forward and grow the money and give it to a cause of their choice, give it to someone in need, a charity, a food bank etc but do good with their ÂŁ10.

This was followed by a 'big photo' outside the cathedral with the whole congregation included. We were then treated to ice cream and a glass of fizz for the grown-ups!
