Godolphin hosts the Pro Corda Chamber Music Festival
On Friday 2nd February, the First Round of the Pro Corda Chamber Music Festival took place. Ensembles from not only Godolphin, but Leweston, Gryphon, Clayesmore, Castle and Sherborne Girls’ School played for the chance to get through to the regional semi-finals, which will be held in a month’s time. There were ten ensembles from Godolphin, with brass, woodwind, piano and strings ensembles. I played in two ensembles – I played violin in The Senior String Quartet and cello in The Corelli Trio. Both went very well, although there is always room for improvement, which the really friendly adjudicator Laura Feeney addressed, giving us positive feedback and constructive criticism on the pieces for ten minutes after we had played. I really enjoy the experience of playing in the festival each year – this is my last year, though I have played in it ever since I started at Godolphin in First Year, and got through to the semi final a couple of years ago, so fingers crossed for this year and good luck to everyone who took part!
