Godolphin athletes stampede their way to medals!

Group Photos 1

On Thursday 3 February we took a team of Junior and Intermediate girls to the ‘Studland Stampede’ cross country race. The race takes place on Knoll beach and the girls run towards the ferry on an ‘out and back’ course. The day was highly anticipated by girls’ and staff alike. The weather was perfect: a calm breeze, mild temperatures, and Old Harry’s rock in the distance in what was a stunning location. Junior and Senior girls all set off together in ‘stampede style’, literally making tracks in the sand on what was a very fast course. Juliet L was first home in 2nd Place for the intermediate girls in a sprint finish with Sherbourne which she won right at the end of the funnel! She was closely followed by Jemima W in 6th place. Imani P and Henrietta M then had a sprint finish for the Junior girls, Imani winning literally on the line and coming 2nd overall, Henrietta 3rd. What was impressive is that both Imani and Henrietta finished in the top 10 or so runners from both the intermediate and junior girls – amazing running! Special mention also goes to Anna W, who finished 10th in her second ever race for Godolphin. A great day out and next up……the Bryanston Relays next week!
