Fifth Year GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition – final practical
The Fifth Year’s GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition practical was a day of excellence in the Food Department at Godolphin. The students put their skills to the test and prepared and cooked three sumptuous recipes in 3 hours. The products cooked were truly worthy of a place in the bake off final and demonstrated amazing practical and organisational skills from all the girls involved. The recipes were finished to the highest standard and all students finished in the time, producing delicious and appetising products. All components of recipes were homemade and included sauces, pasta, pastry and portioning a chicken.
Examples of the recipes cooked by individual students;
Georgia Moody
Lemon and thyme roasted chicken with roast potatoes, carrot batons, Yorkshire pudding and homemade gravy (which included jointing a chicken), lemon meringue pie and fish pie.
Sophie Fan
Victoria sandwich cake, fish pie, lemon meringue pie
Millie Pratt
Strawberry tart, meringue fruit baskets, chicken cordon blue
Rachel Lee
Homemade pizza, individual fruit tarts, ravioli with tomato sauce
Katie Inigo Jones
Homemade pizza, tiramisu, lasagne
Rosie Northcott
Lasagne with home made pasta, tiramisu, pizza
Elizabeth Lickley
Victoria sandwich cake, fish pie, savoury pastry pasty
Charlotte Moloney
Lemon meringue pie, fish pie, jointed roast chicken with shallots and roast potatoes.
The standard of work was exceptional and organisation and application to the task outstanding. Very well done to all students.
