Upper Sixth's Trip to Nettlecombe Court
We arrived at sunny Nettlecombe Court on the 4 October. We were given a quick tour of the amazing 16th Century manor, located in a scenic part of Exmoor National Park, an area of zero light pollution. My statistics skills improved enormously and I now feel like an expert on grassland plants and fresh water organisms that I never knew existed. Mr. Hill’s light-hearted jokes never failed to raise spirits and Dr Medany’s box of Celebration chocolates kept us going during the endless statistic tests late in the evenings. The prospect of counting freshwater shrimp in the pouring rain didn’t sound ideal at first, but with all the knowledge I had gained I really understood the investigation and ended up thoroughly enjoying myself. A huge thank you goes to Dr Medany and Mr. Hill for organising such an interesting and fun trip.
