Last Thursday we offered an online Q&A Forum for Upper Sixth parents and students on the likely effects of Coronavirus on University life and Gap Year Opportunities. The panel included Karl Devincenzi, of Exeter University, and Andrew MacKenzie, director of Asia and Africa Ventures.
It was tremendously useful to hear about the plans being implemented in both sectors for 2020-21, from those at the cutting edge. The subjects covered included:
• Thoughts on Results Day and Clearing (Thursday 13 August 2020) and likely impact of government advice to universities of both
• Plans to deliver university teaching – online-lectures, in-person teaching and use of facilities
• Impact of social distancing on accommodation, catering and dining facilities, Freshers’ Week and extracurricular activities.
• Likely impact on Gap Year opportunities of pandemic, including flights and insurance.
