On Sunday the Fourth and Fifth Year GCSE Art and Design students were joined by this years artist in residence, Patricia Low, to enjoy a full days workshop.
This is an ongoing theme within the department when visiting artists inspire the girls by running workshop days. On Sunday Patricia demonstrated the skills that she uses in her work from mixing watercolours to creating patterns from natural forms and through to transferring two dimensional designs onto three dimensional forms.
Students experimented with these skills using materials and techniques that we rarely use in the department. They developed their own studies both for coursework portfolios and for externally set assignment work.
The work that the students have produced will be on display at the end of year exhibition in May. We are extremely grateful to Patricia for sharing her thoughts and ideas with us and inspiring so many of our students.
Photographs from the workshop can be found here.
