The girls and staff of Douglas House work tirelessly all year to raise funds to support local Alzheimer’s charities. This year we raised £1760 which was presented to the representatives of Alzheimer’s Society and Alzheimer’s Support at our annual Tea Party on Saturday. Chartwells provided delicious sandwiches and cakes for us to serve to our many visitors who packed the library for the occasion. Douglas girls gave a musical entertainment (including a fabulous violin duet, a flute solo and several songs) and then we all sang together a selection of old favourites including ‘Some Enchanted Evening’ and ‘My Favourite Things.’
Zena from Alzheimer’s Society wrote, ‘I thoroughly enjoyed my first Tea Party with Douglas House, and thank you again for the wonderful gift that you presented to us on the day. What a difference it will make to our work, supporting people affected by dementia and funding research into a cure.’
