The Sixth Form Centre was designed in response to increased numbers in the Sixth Form. It is primarily the pastoral base for all the Sixth Form girls but is also staffed and equipped in order that you have access to academic staff and resources to support your studies.
The Centre comprises two houses (Jerred House and School House) set in beautiful gardens. The four full-time Centre Staff are all residents with their families in the Centre. The mix of single and married House staff with children and pets creates a family atmosphere. Both boarders and Sarums (day girls) live and study in both houses. This enables them to maintain old friendships and to develop new ones and ensures that the Centre staff know all the girls. We have an established buddy system and full induction programme to help new girls settle easily.
Each house has a distinctive look, but the ethos in both is the same: you are encouraged to lead independent lives and have freedom to organise your own social activities away from the houses. School provides the setting for many sporting and art-based activities, but the City of Salisbury is only a five minute walk away and you can enjoy the variety of facilities on offer there.
The Centre is well resourced for both academic and social activities and the accommodation is of a high standard, making the Centre a lovely place in which to live. Boarders have single or double occupancy rooms and each Sarum has an individual study area.
There is a kitchen and dining room in the Centre and a great choice of good quality food is served in a very pleasant setting. There are also relaxation rooms in both houses which are quiet areas which are open throughout the day and evening.
The house staff are supported by a team of four House Tutors and both the Head of Sixth Form and Careers Adviser are based in the Centre. The academic Sixth Form tutors are on duty in the Centre from four until six pm every weekday. There is an extensive range of Higher Education resources and a careers office and careers library in Jerred House. Each house has a computer suite.
The Sixth Form Centre Cafe
The Godolphin Sixth Form Centre has been enhanced with the addition of a Sixth Form Centre Cafe, Aroma. The cafe is open at certain times of the day and provides the girls and staff with a complete break from the normal school surroundings.
The cafe is open to girls in the Sixth Form, staff at the school, parents and visitors to the school. Girls in other years are invited for coffee in the cafe on special occasions.
