EAL stands for English as an Additional Language.
International students are assessed for their ability in English language when they apply for a place at Godolphin. The skills tested are grammar, writing, speaking and listening. The level of EAL support varies according to the student’s requirements.
EAL lessons are usually one-to-one and are tailored to the individual needs of each girl and scheduled in to her school timetable. Content ranges from lesson support, where the student receives help with subject specific terminology and/or cultural references, to improvement of her general English and preparation for university education.
